Mother Stabbed To Death, Chased Man With Knife

A North Carolina mother has been arrested after allegedly stabbing to death her 10-month-old baby and chasing a man down her street with a “pointed knife.”
Ciara Frederick He has been charged with murder and assault with a deadly weapon, according to Buncombe County jail records viewed by Us Weekly. Frederick, 34, was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility on Thursday, March 26, and is being held without bond.
The incident that led to his jailing happened in the morning of March 26. The Sheriff’s Office of the County in a statement posted on Facebook, Frederick was at his home in Barnardsville, North Carolina, with his young son, Enoch Chappell, when he stabbed him “multiple times”.
County Sheriff’s Office police and paramedics responded to the home around 2:00 a.m. and found Enoch suffering from stab wounds.
He was then brought to a nearby hospital, where he died.
“Our hearts and thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragedy,” Buncombe County Sheriff Quentin Miller said the statement. “Members of the Barnardsville Fire Department and Buncombe County EMS did everything they could to save this child’s life, and we are thankful for that. Our hearts are broken.”
After stabbing his son, Frederick was accused of attacking the man with a “fixed blade knife” while he was “chasing” down the driveway of his home, according to an arrest warrant seen by Law & Crime. At the moment, it is not clear who this man was and whether he was kept at home.
Frederick was arrested the same day and imprisoned. He was due to appear in court for the first time on Friday, March 27, and will return to court on April 16.
It is not yet clear whether Frederick has applied or retained representation after his arrest. The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond Us‘ a request for comment on the case.
After Frederick’s arrest, Miller explained that the tragedy had a huge impact on the community. “This affects people in a different way. It affects us in a different way. The fact that it affects us in a different way, we have to do something different,” he said, on WLOS.
Miller also said that this case is a reminder that many people have trouble isolating themselves, either geographically or personally. “I don’t know if we take care of each other or check on each other the way we do during a storm,” he added.
