Lindsey Vonn Shows Off A Bandaged Leg During A Workout

Lindsey Vonn is still struggling to be independent as he recovers from the horrific injury that nearly cost the Olympic skier his left leg – but he’s still in the gym working out.
The 41-year-old gold medalist posted a video on her Instagram Story on Monday, March 9, showing her sitting and pulling a rope on a machine at the gym while her leg, still in a cast, sits elevated.
“Finding ways to work,” Vonn wrote in the video.
Vonn underwent multiple leg surgeries after crashing just seconds into her 2026 Winter Olympics race in Italy on Feb. 8. She had been skiing with a torn ACL. Vonn was flown out of the course and didn’t return home until March 1.
He shared an update with fans on February 23, where he revealed that the injury was worse than it looked.
“Dr Tom Hackett he saved my leg,” Vonn said. “He saved my leg from amputation. He did what’s called a fasciotomy, where he opened both sides of my leg and opened it so I could talk, let it breathe, and he saved me.”
He continued, “I always talk about it [how] everything happens for a reason, but if I hadn’t torn my ACL, which I would have torn anyway in this crash, if I hadn’t, Tom wouldn’t be here. He wouldn’t have been able to save my leg, so I feel very lucky and very grateful to him, for the six-hour operation he put in on Wednesday to reconstruct it, which went amazingly well.”

“Definitely some hard times but I’m still grateful… I’m still working hard,” he captioned the post. “The only goal is to be healthy. One day at a time. #icandothis.”
On the same day, he opened up about losing his place as No.
“I’ve had the red leader from the first race of the season until now, but tomorrow will probably be my last day as #1,” he wrote on Instagram. “At the beginning of the season no one would have believed that I would be close to this position. And I bet people would laugh if it was raised. But winning the title was my goal… and I came very close to achieving it.”
