Martha Stewart’s ‘best potato salad’ recipe has divided people

Martha Stewart is taking social media users by storm with her super simple take on deli-style potato salad.
The lifestyle guru’s Instagram account reposted an old cooking clip on April 3, showing the lifestyle guru preparing what he calls “the best potato salad.”
The simple recipe requires only six ingredients: two vegetables, two dressings and two spices.

It consists of potatoes, a medium white onion, one-half cup of white vinegar and one cup of Hellmann’s mayonnaise.
Stewart also adds one-half teaspoon of salt and one teaspoon of sugar to balance the flavors.

He started by mixing the onion with white vinegar, salt and sugar.
““Pour this mixture over the potatoes and just rub it in,” says Stewart.

“In 10 minutes or so, all the liquid is absorbed back into the potatoes,” he added.
“Now you add one cup of Hellmann’s mayonnaise to the potato salad, and start tossing the potatoes back and forth again.”
“I think I’m too Southern for potatoes.”
In the clip, he gives it to his mother Martha Ruszkowski, who described the salad as “very good.”
Stewart identified the dish as “deli-style potato salad.”

“I remember my time in Jersey City,” he said.
The recipe divided critics, with some saying the salad sounded too silly.

“Wait what? I think I’m too Southern for these potatoes,” said one Instagram user.
“It looks awful,” said a second commentator.
Someone said, “I have a better recipe than this.”

Some social media users appreciated the mention of the recipe.
“I’m going to make this potato salad,” said the commentator. “It feels good.”
