Joy Behar says Obama didn’t give comedians ‘anything’ to joke about unlike Trump

ABC’s “The View” host Joy Behar said there is nothing comedians can make fun of during the Obama administration compared to President Donald Trump.

On Tuesday’s “Behind the Table” podcast, Behar responded to comments from director Judd Apatow, who said it’s become more difficult to make political comedies now that things are “more serious” and “more brutal.”

Behar agreed with Apatow’s comments and compared them to jokes under former President Barack Obama, saying there was nothing funny about him.

“When Obama came in, it was great,” Behar said. “There was nothing funny about it. It was…things were fine for eight years. We didn’t have to…talk about our husbands again. We could talk about our mothers-in-law. And now it’s the same again, but it’s more serious now.”

Behar has been a staunch supporter of the former president over the years, even insisting that Trump was “jealous” of Obama in July.

“First of all, who tried to overthrow the government on January 6?” Behar said. “Who is that again? That wasn’t Obama. The thing about him is that he’s jealous of Obama, because Obama is everything he’s not: Slim, smart, handsome, married, and he can sing Al Green’s ‘Let’s Stay Together’ better than Al Green. And Trump can’t stand that. It drives him crazy. Green is not a good color.”

Obama also became the first US president to sit on a daytime talk show after visiting the show in 2010.

Commenting on Fox News Digital, NewsBusters associate editor Nicholas Fondacaro dismissed Behar’s comments, saying that “Obama has a lot to criticize” but people like Behar were too focused on defending him.

“It’s a testament to how biased this show has been throughout their entire program,” said Fondacaro. “They put blinders on when there’s a Democrat in office because they think nothing they’re doing is controversial. They agree with every policy the Democrats send, and whatever the Republicans are doing right now is the worst, worst thing they’ll suddenly like.”

He added, “They’ve been very open about the fact that the purpose of the show is to protect Democrats and push left-wing agendas. ‘The View’ is more than a show name, it’s a guide.”

Speaking of Bill Clinton and the women he was accused of, Behar said in 2016, “You’re a dog. Let’s face it.” He added, “But I’m still going to vote for Bill Clinton because he’s voting for me.”
