“It was hard. Really hard. I was sad,” said the 56-year-old rapper GQ in a cover story interview published on Tuesday, March 24, when he was asked to “measure” his 2025. “I’m glad we found that out so we can just get that out. Like, I was really upset about everything that happened. We’re in a space now where it’s almost like the outcome is not considered enough. Because everything is so fast, you know what I’m saying?”
The Grammy winner continued to face the charges head-on and denied the allegations.
“All that [lawsuit thing]that took a lot out of me. I was angry. I have been angry for a long time, uncontrollable anger,” he said.
Jay-Z has said “a long time ago” that the allegations will not come out without evidence.
“You had to be very sure before you put those things on someone, especially someone like me,” he said. “Even when we did the worst things, we had those kinds of rules. There was a line: no women, no children. You hear those sayings, but those are things I took from the street. We lived and died by that. So it’s tough for me, because it meant a lot to me.”
The “99 Problems” singer reiterated that she took the allegations seriously, adding, “I knew we were going to get through that because, first of all, it’s not true. And the truth, at the end of the day, still reigns supreme.”
In December 2024, Jay-Z was named in a civil lawsuit along with Diddy, 56, who accused the two men of raping and raping a 13-year-old girl at the recent MTV Video Music Awards in 2000. Jay-Z denied the allegations in a statement at the time, calling them “bad” and questioning why the suspect did not press criminal charges.
“Anyone who would commit such a crime against a young child should be locked up, don’t you agree? These alleged victims deserved real justice if that was the case,” he said. “My grief is the end of my family. My wife and I will have to sit down with our children, one of whom is at an age where his friends will see the media and ask questions about the nature of these allegations, and explain the cruelty and greed of people.

“As his legal team has previously stated, Mr. Combs has full confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process,” his lawyers said. “In court, the truth will come out: that Mr. Combs has never abused or trafficked anyone – male or female, old or young.”
In February 2025, the alleged victim dropped his case. The case was dismissed with “prejudice,” which means he can’t dismiss it. Weeks later, Jay-Z filed a defamation lawsuit against the accuser and her lawyers. One of his lawyers, Tony BuzzbeeHe said the case had “no legal force” and said the accuser stood by him.
Five months later, a judge dismissed a defamation lawsuit against Buzbee and the accuser.
