How Rivals’ Franco Lo Presti Learned to Skate

Hot Competition star Franco Lo Presti thanks his wife, Emily Alataloto support him with the skills he continues to provide.
“I had a lot of fun in the program, and I learned to skate properly thanks to my wife, so I got a new skill in my back pocket there,” Lo Presti, 35, shared only. Us Weekly when I visited The Travel Lounge owned by Peta Phipps on Saturday, March 14. “I’m proud of all the people, and they deserve all the success in the world.”
Hot Competition focuses on two professional hockey players, Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie), who maintain secret, long-term romantic relationships while playing opposing teams. Lo Presti plays Cliff Marleau, a friend and teammate of Ilya’s.
The steamy show is based on the hockey romance novel of the same name Rachel Reid.
“I believe that Rachel has several books and I think they want to do it all the way, like a series and maybe a third one, so who knows,” Lo Presti teased about the future of the show. “But the sky is the limit.”

Rony ArmasCurrently, the actor is gearing up for the more important role of a father as he and his wife prepare to welcome their first child this summer.
While we celebrate 2026 Oscars over the weekend at L’Ermitage Beverly Hills, both Lo Presti and Alatalo, 40, couldn’t help but smile as they discussed their future roles as parents.
“I think he’s going to be an amazing father, because he loves to play,” Alatalo (who wore EKOUAER at the event) shared. “He’s playful and honest and kind, and I think he’s going to be a lot of fun, and he’s going to have the best time being a dad.”
Lo Presti added, “I think she will be the best mother because she knows and gets along with people and knows about children. I just think she will be a very loving mother and very careful and allow our child to really succeed in who he is without fear. That’s what she does for me. Every time I get nervous, my wife relieves me.”

Carell AugustusWhile viewers may love Ilya and Shane on the small screen, it’s hard not to root for Lo Presti and Alatalo’s real-life romance.
Although the couple met on the set of a holiday film called Christmas Catchit took almost three years for the two to start dating.
“I didn’t know he was interested in me, so we broke up, and after three years, I tried to set him up with my best girlfriend, Jenna,” Alatalo said. “He said the best line he’s ever done. I said, ‘I’m busy this week. I’m not sure.’ He said, ‘Listen, Emily, let me know when you’re free, and I’ll make a time for you.’
Lo Presti replied, “I think it’s working. Now here we are. We got married in 2023 and we have a baby girl on the way.”
