Extreme Comedy Thriller Changes Everything You Know About Vampires, Stream Free

Every once in a while, I accidentally watch a double feature of movies. Not so long ago, for example, I came across two films with queens fighting undead monsters. The first was Queens of the Deadwhich had big names (like muscle mom Katy O’Brian) and was directed by George Romero’s daughter, Tina. The second was Stab (2024), a low-budget, direct-to-video feature film RuPaul’s Drag Race contestants I had never heard of.
Considering it premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, features several of my favorite actors, and has Romero’s name on it, I thought I’d enjoy it. Queens of the Dead much, but I found the movie to be inconsistent, too preachy, and short on both humor and horror. Currently, Stab it turned out to be lo-fi bliss full of funny moments, shocking scares, and incredibly strong characters. If you’re looking for a jump scare movie that’s perfect for watching with a few friends and a few beers, you can now stream this Tubi original, completely free.
Slay, Queen

The foundation of Stab that a group of drag queens are touring the country and are excited to perform at their next destination, which must be a legendary gay bar. Because of the mix, however, they came from a redneck neighborhood in the middle of nowhere, one full of bikers and hillbillies who don’t see cotton to drag shows. Before the two teams can split up, however, they must come together to fight an entirely new threat: a group of vampires intent on feeding on the entire bar, one victim at a time.
Unless you’re a big fan RuPaul’s Drag Raceyou may not see many stars of Stab. The film features several contestants from that show, including Trinity Tuck, Heidi N Closet, and Crystal Method; the film also stars Cara Melle, a veteran of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. Apart from these artists, the big name in the film is Neil Sandilands, who is well known for him Sweet Toothbut fans of the heroine may remember her better as The CW’s Thinker Flash.
A Movie To Sink Your Teeth Into

Instead of getting the theatrical release, Stab developed by Tubi and released directly on their free streaming site. Most who have watched the movie agree that it is a great addition to the growing library of free content, and one that effectively adds to the number of consumers. Tubi is already the perfect platform to watch a surprising number of classic movies and shows without paying a subscription fee; now, on top of that, you get a continuous stream of original programming that you won’t find anywhere else.
Stab it’s far enough under the radar that few professional reviewers have commented on it, but on Rotten Tomatoes, every critic who has watched it praises it. In general, critics praise the way the film packs a lot of laughs and genuine scares, proving that you don’t need a big budget to create a killer horror film. Critics also praised this vampire queen thriller for easily incorporating important themes into the plot without coming across as overly preachy or overly sentimental.
A Camp Movie Worth Watching With Friends

That’s where I got to Stab: it’s far from a great film, but the simplicity of its setting gives it a lo-fi energy that nicely accentuates the setting. In the end we watch a colorful cast of characters (seriously, you don’t have to love drag to laugh at these superhumans) huddle together and try to stop the undead monsters from breaking into this hole-in-the-wall bar. Basically, if you enjoy it Night of the Living Dead, I Evil Deador Cabin in the Woodsyou will probably enjoy this simple, organized story.
One common criticism of the Stab that the first players are very obvious not professional actors, of course, but that also affects the beauty of the film. Most of the time, the characters’ fun chemistry and hilariously silly dialogue is enough to carry any scene. But the occasional odd line read or the odd acting choice only accentuates the appeal of this modern B-movie, which should resonate with anyone who grew up watching cheap VHS movies at their local home video store.
The Window Into Another World

Finally, as I said at the beginning, Stab it touches on important themes about acceptance, finding family, and exploring identity without getting overly preachy. This, too, is part of the fun of the film: it never loses sight of the need to send a serious message (something that happens. always in the middle Queens of the Dead) and instead focuses on telling a good story. As a viewer, this gives you options: you can enjoy this film as a bold triumph of collective self-examination, or you can enjoy it as a funny, horrifying place to kill vampires, one bite at a time.
You will admit that Stab is it an extreme horror hit, or will this movie make you want to “pull” the remote to change the channel? The only way to find out is to stream it today on Tubi. If this movie has sparked your own need for a drag name, let me be the first to warn you: “Buffy the Vampire Layer” is probably already taken!
