Emilie Kiser Reflects on Son Trigg’s Death on Memorial Day

Emilie Kiser opens with her mourning the 10th anniversary of her son Trigg’s death.

“Today is officially 10 months since we lost our son Trigg in a preventable drowning accident,” the 27-year-old activist wrote on her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, March 18. “I continue to feel at a loss for words when asked how I feel because the only word that suffices is ‘broken.’ I miss him a lot. Everything about him. Especially the joy and light you bring to our home.”

“I see him at Teddy’s every day, and that brings me a certain level of peace when I’m dealing with so many other emotions,” she continued, referring to her 11-month-old son, who she lives with her husband. Brady Kiser.

Emilie wrote, “One of the hardest parts of the last 10 months, even though I can’t [possibly] just pick 1, you have to live without him. Some people might read that and think it’s obvious, but it’s a daily mountain to climb. Waking up without him by my side, not talking to him every day, not seeing his perfect smile, and so much more.”

Emilie shared some advice for parents with pools, writing, “The last thing I want to add every time I talk about Trigg is awareness. It seems to everyone who has ever heard HIS story that it was avoidable.”

“So please, fence your pools, add more obstacles, teach your children to swim NOW and continuously,” he wrote. “And last, but not least, keep an eye on them around the water.”

In May 2025 news broke that Trigg, 3, had died after being found unconscious in the pool at the family’s home in Arizona. Authorities recommended criminal charges be filed against Brady, who was home at the time of the incident, but the Maricopa County District Attorney’s Office said in July 2025 it would not pursue charges because “there is no likelihood of conviction.”

“Thank you to law enforcement and the district attorney for doing a thorough investigation and making sure this tragic accident,” Brady’s attorney, Flynn P. Careysaid a statement at the time. “Brady is still grieving and is grateful to be with his family as they heal together. Thank you for the compassion and support shown during this difficult time.”
