Former President Bill Clinton suggested that he does not remember President Donald Trump implicating himself in the Jeffrey Epstein case, one of the Republicans who impeached him said on Friday.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., briefed reporters during Clinton’s opening remarks on the Epstein investigation. It started after 11 am and is expected to continue until Friday evening.
“I know there’s a lot of concern about President Trump in the media, a lot of interest in President Trump from the media. I want to make a statement because they probably won’t say this when they come out here,” Comer said, speaking about Democrats on the committee.
He said the leader of the Democratic Alliance, Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif., asked Clinton if Trump should be called before the committee as he was.

“You have to make the decision,” Clinton said, according to Comer.
“The president went on to say that the president, Trump, ‘never said anything to me to make me think he was involved,’ he meant Epstein,” Comer said. “I thought that was an interesting thing that President Clinton said.”
His inauguration, along with that of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton before him, took place at the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center in Westchester County, NY.
The Clintons have claimed suburban New York City as their permanent home since leaving the White House in early 2000.
Democrats who left the arts center minutes later to brief reporters indicated they disagreed with Comer’s account, but did not go into detail themselves.
Garcia suggested that there be an agreement between all parties not to discuss the details of the application as it progresses.

“I think the best answer to that is to look at the full record of what he actually said, which, look, we won’t disclose what was said because that’s not in the rules. But the Republicans continue to break the rules,” the California Democrat told reporters.
“President Clinton has brought more information about the conversations with President Trump. I think the way Chairman Comer described it, I don’t think it’s a complete, accurate description of what was actually said. So let’s release the full transcript, and you all can get a full record of what was actually said, which brings up very important new questions about the comments that President Trump has actually made in the past.”
Trump has been the centerpiece of the party’s widening rift in the House Oversight Committee investigation.
Democrats have accused the GOP of covering up for Trump at the expense of Epstein’s victims, while Republicans have accused Democrats of using the pedophile and his heinous crimes as a tool to attack the president.
Trump himself told reporters Friday when asked about Clinton, “I don’t like to see her impeached.”
The presentation of the petition is still going on behind closed doors, but the committee is expected to release a video and transcript of the entire sit-down within days of its conclusion. The same is true of Hillary Clinton’s speech, the video of which may be released as early as this weekend.

The only part of Clinton’s testimony that has been made public so far is her opening statement in which she denied knowing anything about Epstein’s allegations.
“Now, let me say what you’re going to hear from me. First of all, I didn’t know anything about the crimes Epstein was committing. No matter how many pictures you show me, I have two things, at the end of the day, that are more important than your interpretation of those 20-year-old pictures,” said Clinton, according to his prepared opening remarks.

“I know what I saw and more importantly, what I didn’t see. I know what I did and more importantly, what I didn’t do. I didn’t see anything and I didn’t do anything wrong.”
Neither Trump nor Clinton have been implicated in any wrongdoing related to Epstein or his accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell.
