Riverdale alum Charles Melton he is legally the father behind his girlfriend, Camille Summers-Valligave birth to their first child.
“Our family,” Melton, 35, captioned a series of Instagram photos on Monday, March 9, from his early days as a father.
The actress didn’t share details about when her baby was born, but posted a photo of her hugging the baby and a family photo of the trio.
“❤️ angels,” by Melton Riverdale the costar Lili Reinhart he wrote in the comment section. Marisol Nicholswho played Veronica Lodges’ (Camila Mendes) mom on the CW series, also sent him well wishes, writing, “Omg! 😍 Congrats Charles!”
Summers-Valli announced her pregnancy in December 2025, citing a series of maternity photos on Instagram, “Making a lil family.”
In the accompanying photos, Melton kissed her bare bump and joined her during a doctor’s appointment.
Like their relationship, Melton and Summers-Valli kept the details of starting their family private. However, the actor spoke about the impact of his father on his life.

Courtesy of Charles Melton/Instagram“I love him. He was in the army for 26-plus years,” he told the media Los Angeles Times in a December 2023 interview. “For four of those years, my father served in the Gulf War [including] in the desert storm.”
With his father away serving in the military, Melton who was 11 at the time took on the role of father in his home.
“He was talking about family, responsibility,” his father recalled. “He [described] how a good man was, how a good man would love his family. He said a lot of good things — he was asking me to take care of my sisters and mother while he was away. I remember looking at my dad, kind of emotional, but I can’t do it [cry]. I felt, at that moment, that I had to be strong and show my father that I could do this. If I cry and beg him to stay, it won’t change that he will be gone for a year. Who knows what could have happened?”

In the years since his rise to fame, Melton has remained close to his family.
“Times come and go,” he said People in February 2024. “What never comes and passes is my family, and they are with me all the time. These are the people who love me, who will be with me in every part of my journey in life. They speak the truth to me.
As for his love life, Melton dated his Riverdale costar Mendes on and off from 2018 to 2021. He was later contacted Chase Sui Wonders in 2022 again Chloe Bennet in 2023.
“People should mind their own business, honestly,” he said Hunger in 2019, directing a lot of interest in his relationship status. “I don’t have Twitter and that’s one of the reasons why I don’t read all the comments on social media because people are always talking.”

He continued, “No matter what happened, people were always talking, even before these years of Instagram, but at that time you didn’t like to hear about someone talking about you, and in fact it is not their place to have authority over my relationship. Not everyone will be a supporter or a fan of your relationship and people should remember that opinions are not true.”
Melton then discussed how his experience of prominence prompted him to protect his personal life.
“I think that, in a way, I am a little more aware of what I say or what I do now, but regarding the decision I decided to put on social media, it is my decision to show these parts of my life,” he explained. “If people want to spend their time trying to find out something about me that I might not want to share, that’s up to you.”
