Alex Bregman delivers the Navy SEAL speech for the WBC, the honor of representing the USA

It wasn’t the result he wanted in the end, but Alex Bregman loved every minute of representing his country while playing for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic (WBC) this month.
The US eventually fell to Venezuela in the WBC final, falling as a result in 2023 after losing to Japan. But while winning it all is the obvious goal on the field, what it meant to wear the red, white and blue and represent the US in the tournament was not lost on players like Bregman, especially after a special pregame speech.
Former Navy SEAL Robert O’Neill, who was part of the 2011 raid that killed Osama bin Laden, gave Team USA a pre-game speech before their quarterfinal match against Canada. It was something Bregman felt resonated with the entire room, and he reminded each player and coach who they were playing for.

“None of us knew that he was going in and he just heard some stories that he told about what it was like as a SEAL. All the details were crazy, and it put into perspective for all of us how lucky we are. There are many brave men and women who protect our freedom every day,” he told Fox News Digital, while also discussing his relationship with Coffee and Patrick SPORT that includes the Throne group Brerho that includes Patrick SPORT Stewart.
“It was a really impactful speech, and I think the guys realized that we play for more than just winning baseball games. We play for them and we’re thankful for everything they do for our country to keep us safe every day.”

Others criticized O’Neill’s speech to Team USA on social media, criticizing the messages promoting war as the pep talk went viral. Others, however, praised O’Neill’s heroic story and shared it with the team, which eventually gave players like Bregman that idea of what it means to wear the national colors on the world stage.
Bregman, who is about to enter his 11th season in MLB, his first with the Chicago Cubs after signing a five-year free agent deal with them last season, spoke to that point.
“It’s an honor to represent your country,” he said. “I’m very proud to be able to wear the Stars and Stripes, and I’m proud to be an American. Every time I get a chance to do that, I will.”
While the next WBC will be held in March 2030, Bregman even said that Team USA wants “a little relief” from the Summer Olympics in 2028, when baseball will be played at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

“We’ve been talking about it since the last time we came out,” Bregman said of Team USA discussing the Olympics after their 3-2 loss to Venezuela. “We want to take it back and win.”
STAR-STUDDED CAFFEINE BOOST
As Bregman prepares for another MLB season, he knows better than most that it’s a marathon — not a sprint.
Playing 162 games can be a tough job, and since he’s about to play multiple games a day as a new member of the Cubs, he knows how much help Throne SPORT Coffee will be. And, while it has natural caffeine to boost Bregman’s needs, the NSF Certified for Sport drink also contains 100% of the daily value of B vitamins.

Beverage industry doctor Michael Fedele created the COFFEE PLUS+ formula for both premium brands and cold brews, providing 150mg of natural caffeine and 10 grams of protein for recovery – just what athletes like Bregman need.
The Gold Glove third baseman said he contacted Fedele two years ago when he was a member of the Houston Astros, and has been sending out Throne SPORT Coffee for him and his teammates to hang out with. That continued when he joined the Boston Red Sox in 2025, even during the WBC. Bregman is ready to get his Chicago teammates involved now.
“Chicago is a huge market for Throne SPORT Coffee, so I feel it’s only natural that we continue to work together. I invested in the company because I believe in it. I feel you have to take ownership of what goes into your body if you want to play long and have a long life in this sport. It’s coffee that’s good for you that will keep you going.”
