Chicago Fire’s Violet and Novak’s Romance Futures Are Discussed

Is it The Chicago FireAre Violet and Novak ready to date after their shared love interest Vasquez saves their lives?
Warning: Spoilers below from season 14, episode 18 of Chicago Fire.
On the Wednesday, April 22, episode of the NBC series, paramedic Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith) and Lyla Novak (Jocelyn Hudon) find themselves trapped in a basement after a man claims his pregnant wife was having an abortion.
As their captor – who was holding his pregnant tenant – starts to get angry, firefighter Sal Vasquez (Brandon Larracuente), joined the police in the search for Violet and Novak.
While Vasquez’s knowledge of the women helped him find them before anyone died in the basement, Greensmith, 29, and Hudon, 31, were only told. Us Weekly that does not mean that the first aid is ready to make him their new person.
“I think [the episode] it was strengthening the friendship, especially between Violet and Novak,” Hudon revealed, noting that the paramedics chose to focus on their working relationship — and not worry about Vasquez.

Peter Gordon/NBCThe actor noted that coming out alive after being dependent on each other meant that Novak and Violet “rearranged our priorities and were able to say things and accept things and just let go of unsatisfied thoughts and accept them.”
Before the kidnapping, Novak told Violet that he was hurt by keeping his meeting with Vasquez a secret for so long. (Violet and Vasquez had a one-night stand earlier this season, but Violet stopped it again after realizing that Novak might love her more than she was letting on.)
Once they were safe, Novak and Violet had a heart-to-heart in the back of the ambulance and agreed to be loyal to each other, always.
“[They were like]’Okay, we trust each other, professionally and personally. Let’s move forward,” said Hudson about the area.
Greensmith agreed with Hudon’s assessment, telling Us that Violet’s collaboration with Novak is “the most important” of them all.
He teased that “as far as Vasquez goes,” fans are “going to spend a lot of the season” learning more about his character and “trying to understand what’s going on in his head.”

Peter Gordon/NBC“He’s a really secretive kind of character, and we’ve really seen very little of what his thought process looks like,” Greensmith said. “So you may or may not see a lot.”
When Hudon told Us that there’s a lot more to learn about Novak’s past — and potential romantic future — this season, he played coy about whether or not the potential romance would involve Vasquez. (Novak shut down Vasquez’s advances this season, telling him that sleeping with Violet was a non-starter.)
Greensmith, however, revealed that Violet is still an open book – but struggling to find what she wants after her romance with Vasquez and brief fling with Sam Carver (Jake Lockett), now working in Denver.
“He kind of danced with what he felt he was ready for. He was going in and out of surrendering to anything,” the actor said. Us. “I think the only thing he felt willing and comfortable committing to was a friendship with Novak, and I think that’s what he needed all along.”
Greensmith added that during the remaining episodes of this season, Violet “will be trying to figure out what she needs right now and what is true for her.”
“The important thing is that he wants to be Novak’s best friend, and I think so [this episode] It really shows where he can be better that way.” “I hope those are his priorities.”
The Chicago Fire airs on NBC Wednesdays at 9 pm ET.
