Auburn coach teases USF fans with comments about former school

Hating your former coach is a rite of passage for a college football fan.
Very few ride off into the sunset after accomplishing all they set out to do, and even those coaches take little time to get back to the good plans of other fan packs.
Take a guy like Clemson coach Dabo Swinney for example. He has two national championships to his name and has owned the ACC for a decade, but within the next year or two, he will likely be fired or forced to resign, and fans will remember the 7-5 seasons long before they come to their senses and respect the guy as one of the best coaches of the 21st century.

Which means, when your coach leaves, either by choice or because of poor performance, it’s easy to be bitter in your mouth as a fan.
Current Auburn coach (and former USF coach) Alex Golesh did nothing to change those feelings when, in an interview with USA Today, he made some interesting comments about the comparison between his current and former employers.
If you think that ruffled feathers, you’re right.
Bulls fans are outraged that their former coach would dare to speak ill of their program, as fans on social media are deeply disturbed.

Okay, look, I hear you.
He probably shouldn’t have said those things, there’s no need to take pictures from your previous shows like that, and Golesh has a reputation for being a secretive kind of guy.
With all that being said, he is not wrong.
People may be angry with Golesh for saying something that provokes anger, but saying that he is wrong or calling him a liar is not the case.
The way college football is set up, a team like USF probably has no shot at ever coming close to winning a national championship.
All their players who are good enough to play at Power 4 schools will end up being hunted by the big boys.

Don’t you believe me? Check out USF’s roster from last season.
Half of those kids are on The Plains with Golesh, which hurts his argument that he thinks he can win at Auburn while taking half of his South Florida roster with him, but I digress.

Gone are the days of Boise State and Cincinnati knocking on the door of the national championship (though those teams probably wouldn’t win it either).
Unless USF gets a few multi-billion dollar boosters under the coach’s cushions and joins the P4 conference, Golesh is right in his assessment of the situation, whether you like it or not.
