Meta is preparing to cut thousands of jobs early next month, with deeper layoffs expected later this year, according to the report.
The tech giant aims to cut about 10% of its global workforce – or nearly 8,000 workers – in the first round of layoffs on May 20, sources told Reuters.
The company also plans more layoffs in the second half of the year, although details including timing and scope are not yet clear, the report said.
The report follows an earlier Reuters report that Meta was considering layoffs that could affect at least 20% of its workforce as it seeks to address rising intelligence costs.
