Texas Man Chokes Pregnant Wife While Their Child Watched

A Texas man has been arrested after allegedly strangling his pregnant wife until she limped – in front of their child.
The Waco Police Department says so Jacob Daniel Vega charged with assault – family violence.
He was arrested after an incident that occurred on Monday, April 13, at a home in Waco. The woman called 911 early in the morning and said, “I can’t take this anymore,” and “you got into it with someone,” according to an arrest affidavit obtained by KWTX.
When the police arrived at the house, Vega, 40, went out to the patrol car and said that he and his wife had just had an argument.
Vega said he and his wife had been arguing because he was in the bedroom with the door locked and his wife repeatedly slammed the door, according to the affidavit. He told police he got angry and opened the door. He then took the shoe rack from their room and put it in their children’s room.
At this point, the woman allegedly started screaming, and Vega said she “lost it.”
As the incident escalated, Vega and his wife began to lay hands on each other and he ended up sitting on top of her. Police say he then began choking her. It is said that Vega told the police to go check on his wife, he was handcuffed and put in the back of a patrol car.
While speaking with the wife, she told authorities her legs were numb and her throat hurt. He said Vega choked him for about two to three minutes, according to the affidavit.
The police noticed that the woman had broken blood vessels in both of her eyes, and her red neck. He also reiterated Vega’s claim that he choked her with both hands while sitting on top of her, according to police.
The woman was seven weeks pregnant at the time of the incident. The police finally discovered that the couple had been married for six years and had been living together for the past two years.
In addition, the victim told the police that their child was in the room at the time of the attack. She added that Vega only stopped choking her when she went limp in his arms.
After speaking with the police, the woman was taken to Hillcrest Hospital for evaluation. At that time, Vega was arrested and booked into the McLennan County Jail. He appears to have been released since online records do not list him as an active inmate.
It is not yet clear whether Vega has entered a plea or retained an attorney following his arrest. The Waco Police Department did not immediately respond Us Weeklyrequest for comment on the case.
