Pitt’s Noah Wyle breaks the silence on Supriya Ganesh’s exit

Pitt‘s Noah Wyle break his silence Supriya Ganeshcontroversial exit from the game.

“It’s an inevitable thing that’s going to happen every season with this show, because as writers we’re struggling to figure out what’s the last time we can have and keep most of the ensemble together for real,” Wyle, 54, said. Variety at the PaleyFest screening Pitt Sunday, April 12.

The actor defended the decision to write Ganesh’s character, adding, “Emergency rooms have a high revolving door. As always, we try to bring in new actors or promote from within as we go through these cast changes and try to keep the story lines fresh, but obviously Supriya has been a big part of our show since the beginning.”

He concluded: “Dr. Mohan is a lovely character, and I love playing with him and working with Supriya, and we wish him all the best in his next endeavours, and we will miss him.”

The Pitt cast has never shied away from reacting to the loss of some of their own as many actors leave the show. The HBO Max hit series, which premiered in January 2025, follows a group of employees at a fictional Pittsburgh hospital who work one 15-hour shift. The series is led by Dr. Robby (Noah Wyle), […]

Creator R. Scott Gemmill he was also asked about changing the different characters, saying, “It’s kind of the nature of the game. Unfortunately, the way the medical profession works, you go in, you learn, you move on, and we want to try to be as true to that process as possible. So we’re going to change our characters. But I think it’s a great platform to introduce people, and that’s the best we can do.”

Ganesh, 28, was not present at the event.

“Hey everyone — not sure why it wasn’t removed from the site but I won’t be at Paleyfest this Sunday,” she wrote on Instagram on Thursday, April 10. “I know some of you bought tickets to see me and I hope you know this is not a decision I take lightly. I love you all.”

It was first announced in February that Ganesh would appear on the panel alongside showrunner Gemmill and cast members Wyle, Katherine LaNasa, Isa Briones, Shawn Hatosy, Sepideh Moafi again Taylor Dearden.

Briones, 27, Hatosy, 50, and Moafi, 40, were also removed from the program due to other work commitments. Ganesh, however, did not give a reason for his absence and continued to remain tight-lipped about his character, Dr. Samira Mohan, who was written off before season 3.

It was reported in April that Ganesh’s departure as Mohan was “story driven” as the show was set in a teaching hospital. Meanwhile, Ayesha Harris, has been promoted, as her character, Dr. Parker Ellis, is expected to play a major role in season 3.

Ganesh is not the first cast member whose exit has caused a backlash among viewers. Tracy Ifeachor confirmed his departure in July 2025, according to a source Us Weekly that month it was always planned for his character – who was in the fourth season of the first season – to continue his work.

An insider told us that Ifeachor “didn’t choose to leave the show” and wasn’t aware of “any closed doors” on his return. No news has been shared since then about Ifeachor appearing in future episodes.

Ganesh, meanwhile, recently told us in February that he was “curious” about where his character will be when season 3 begins, saying, “It’s up to the writers. Let’s see where they end up taking him.”

Ganesh concluded: “I think we left him in a really interesting place.

While at PaleyFest on Sunday, Us spoke to Wyle and Gemmill about the idea for season 3.

“The pilot for ER was St. Patrick’s Day, and now we’ve done the Fourth of July at Pitt. Christmas is a lot of costumes and sizes — and we’re all going to be sick of decorating by the time we’re done filming,” Wyle said of the holidays that may be included in the show. “Halloween is a little fun. New Year’s Eve is a busy ER night. So maybe New Year’s Eve.”

Gemmill, for his part, confirmed that they “won’t be doing a vacation” in season 3, saying, “We’re going to do a season. It’s going to be a little cold.”

New episodes of Pitt airs Thursdays on HBO Max.
