Man Shoots Pregnant Mother, Unborn Child in Kentucky Parking Lot

An unimaginable tragedy occurred this week when a 22-year-old pregnant woman and her unborn child died following a shooting outside a local restaurant in Glasgow, Kentucky.

The Glasgow Police Department confirmed that Ava Woodcock and her child died Tuesday, April 7, at the University of Louisville Hospital, according to WKBO. Woodcock and her child are said to have died after the incident.

Brandon L. Bond has been arrested in connection with the shooting and has been charged with murder (domestic violence), first degree murder and fleeing or eluding police on foot. His charges were brought forward after the death of Woodcock and the child.

Investigators say the shooting occurred when Woodcock reportedly pulled into the parking lot of Annie’s Restaurant and honked his horn. Bond, 24, then crossed Cleveland Avenue and opened fire while Woodcock was inside his car.

The police said that it is not yet clear what events led to the altercation, and that the investigation is still ongoing.

After being shot, Woodscock’s car continued to move before finally crashing. Police say it is not yet clear whether he stayed in the car or got out of the car after the shooting.

Bond fled the scene, when police found him in a wooded area behind a nearby recycling company.

It is believed that Bond had been drinking all day before the shooting. Authorities said he was “very uncooperative” after being locked up, and prison officials confirmed he was restrained and kept in isolation overnight.

Bond appeared before his arraignment Wednesday, April 8, in Barren County District Court. It is not yet clear whether he pleaded guilty or retained a lawyer after his arrest.

The Glasgow Police Department did not immediately respond Us Weeklyrequest for comment on the case.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

A GoFundMe has since been launched for Woodcock’s family in response to the tragedy.

“The Woodcock family is dealing with an unimaginable and heartbreaking tragedy. Their beloved daughter was the victim of a senseless act of violence and, after fighting for her life, has now tragically passed away,” the post read.

“Amidst this tragic loss, her unborn child was stillborn – adding to the family’s grief beyond words.”

In addition to losing her unborn baby, Woodcock “leaves behind a precious one-year-old daughter.”

“As the family surrounds him with love, they deal with great grief, shock, and the weight of what lies ahead,” the document added.

All donations collected on the GoFundMe page “will help cover the funeral expenses of their beloved daughter and her child, as well as immediate and ongoing needs – including the care and support of her youngest daughter.”
