Local authorities announced last Tuesday that a Colorado school employee has been accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old student for months.

The employee has been identified as Brenda Meza, 34, of Greeley-Evans School District 6, which is located about an hour north of Denver, police said. It is reported that he is on the run and now he is wanted for many cases.

Meza, a secretary who also coached the cross country team and advised the Franklin Middle School sports club, is accused of grooming the eighth-grader by serving him alcohol and drugs, discussing obscene texts, and organizing several meetings in places including a park and a Walmart parking lot, the New York Post reported, citing an arrest affidavit and local police.

“During the investigation, it was determined that Meza continued to sexually abuse the children for several months,” the Greeley Police Department said. “Due to the investigation, Brenda Meza is wanted on several Felony charges.”

Authorities say he allegedly became jealous when the boy met his female classmates, the Post reported.

In November, it was reported that the two began sending each other sex messages that included at least four indecent images sent by the boy.

The relationship reportedly soured in January, when Meza and a 13-year-old boy allegedly had sex for the first time in the back seat of his car in a Walmart parking lot, according to the Post. It is said that he also bought them marijuana, edibles and alcohol so that they could eat while they were together.

In the following weeks, the two allegedly repeated the same encounter at least twice at a local park. It is suspected that he will leave the boy at home again around 9 pm, the Post reported.

The investigation further revealed that Meza took dozens of photos of the two drinking, holding marijuana guns, and spending time together after school, the source said.

Police reportedly began an investigation on February 12 after receiving an anonymous tip about Meza’s abuse of youths.

After school officials confronted her, Meza admitted to her husband that she “got high” and had inappropriate interactions with the child, the affidavit states.

The secretary, who started working at the middle school in 2020, was placed on administrative leave and later terminated on Feb. 25, according to a school memo sent by principal Suzette Luster, the Post said.

The district added that it is assisting the police in the investigation and reiterated that “the safety and security of students is always our top priority.”

The police department reportedly wants to charge him with 12 counts — including child sexual abuse, online child solicitation, and tampering with evidence — and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
