One Ford model is avoiding a wave of recalls that has swept the entire lineup since 2020

Over the past few years, Ford has found itself in hot water, recalling almost every model in its lineup between 2020 and 2026 — all but one.
Only the Ford GT, a mid-engined two-seater sports car, escaped the problems that plagued others, including problems with windshields, suspension cameras and rear-view cameras.
Discontinued after 2022, the model paid tribute to the legendary Ford GT40, which dominated the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the 1960s. While the second-generation Ford GT largely avoided recalls, both generations faced some issues. The first suffered from possible airbag problems, while the second had a possible hydraulic defect.
In 2025, Ford set the record for the most recalls issued by a single automaker in a single year, issuing more than 150 — nearly doubling the previous record of 77 set by General Motors in 2014.

These attacks are largely due to the aggressive strategy of initiating voluntary recalls before major incidents or widespread complaints occur.
“The increase in recalls reflects our proactive strategy to quickly find and fix hardware and software issues and go the extra mile to help protect customers,” the company said in the summer of 2025. “Ford has doubled their team of safety and technology experts over the past two years and greatly increased testing for failures in critical systems in today’s Ford vehicles such as power trains, steering and braking. Current feedback from this production.”
In six years, 16 Ford models – including SUVs and crossovers, trucks and vans, work vehicles and commercial vans – were affected, including tens of millions of vehicles.

Among Ford’s seven SUV and crossover models – Escape, Bronco Sport, Bronco, Explorer, Expedition, Mustang Mach-E and Edge – each is subject to at least one recall. Problems include distorted or blank camera images, cracked fuel injectors that pose a fire risk, software errors that can cause brake malfunctions and electronic door latch failures that can lead to locking or seizing.

All five of Ford’s largest truck and van models — the Maverick, Ranger, F-150, F-150 Lightning and Super Duty — are also affected. The most common problems include electrical faults that can disable the trailer’s brake lights, turn signals or braking functions while towing, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford has pretty much done away with traditional sedans, leaving the Mustang as the only passenger car left. The coupe and convertible, which have been produced since 2020, have faced issues including camera malfunctions.
The company’s commercial vans – Transit, E-Transit and Transit Connect – have also been recalled for problems involving braking, traction, electrical systems and visibility.
