Octomom Nadya Sulemen Talks ‘Challenging’ Time in Life

Natalie “Nadya” Suleman – aka Octomom – has returned to social media after a hiatus of almost eight months.

“Although this past year has been one of the most difficult periods in my life, at least I will know that my beautiful family will always be here to love and support me through my highs and lows,” said Suleman, 51, in a caption on Monday, July 13, Instagram carousel. The post featured a throwback photo of Suleman with all 14 of his children including the octuplets he gave birth to in 2009.

Noting that he celebrated his birthday just one day earlier, Suleman continued, “Thank you to all my 14 children, my daughter-in-law and my granddaughter, for making me feel special on my birthday yesterday.” (Suleman did not publicly disclose the identity of his daughter-in-law, but confirmed the arrival of the grandson in August 2024.)

Suleman captioned the post, which was the first since a series of selfies at the gym in October 2025, with a nod to a new social media account apparently run by his two daughters, who arrived as part of his octuplets. “I love you so much ❤️And a special thank you to my two lovely daughters Maliyah and Nariyah @solomontwins2009,” she wrote.

The carousel also included two throwback photos of Maliyah and Nariyah, both 17, engaged in baking in the kitchen.

The siblings, who shared their first joint Instagram post on July 1, wished their mother a happy birthday on the day Suleman returned to the social media platform. “We wish you a happy birthday mom!! Thank you for loving and protecting us all throughout our lives; thank you for instilling in us the importance of health, resilience, and self-care; and most importantly, thank you for raising us with the Lord, for teaching us to love and respect all living things,” the sisters said in a caption of their carousel showing several pictures of their mother relaxing at home with her extended family. “From you we have learned patience and perseverance in all the challenges we face in life.”

Suleman rose to fame after giving birth to her octuplets through IVF in 2009. Before their safe arrival, making them the first set of octuplets in the world, she was the mother of six older children: Elijah (born in 2001), Amerah (born in 2002), Joshua (born in 2003 and Aiden 0) and Aiden0 (born in 2003) and Aiden0 Caleb (born in 2006).

In March 2025, Suleman only told Us Weekly that she was spending $5,000 every month just to support her children before she needed more money to take care of everything else. “Food, rent, bills and repeat. Food, rent, bills,” he said Us at that time. “They grow and the food they need grows. At first, I wasn’t using a quarter of that. Now it’s more than that.”
