Sony still owns the movie rights to Spider-Man, which is why they tried (and failed) to build an entire cinematic universe around his villains. The studio has yet to release live-action films with Spidey in them, preferring to loan the character out to Marvel Studios to headline movies such as Spider-Man: A New Day. Aside from live-action, however, Sony created Into the Spider-Verse, which is still the best Spider-Man movie ever made. This film started a full-fledged franchise different Spider-Man: Miles Morales, his comic book has proven to be insanely popular.

Given how much fans love him in the comics and in the Spider-Verse movies, it’s only a matter of time before Miles Morales makes an appearance in the MCU. Now, it looks like he could end up there soon thanks to some of Marvel’s biggest stars. In a recent interview, Spider-Man: A New Day star Tom Holland has expressed a strong interest in bringing Miles into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He also wants to mentor any young actor who is hired to play the role, leading him to this famous franchise in the same way that Robert Downey Jr. let him guide him through it.

Spider-Man is gone

Forward Brand new DayFor the July 31 issue, Tom Holland recently gave an interview to Hobby Consolas. While discussing his upcoming film, the actor explained his desire to bring another spider to the growing web of Marvel movies. “I think at this point in time, we have an open mind about what the future looks like,” Holland said. “I know I have ambitions to bring Miles Morales to the universe, but that will happen. We have a lot of work to do to bring that to life. But yes, I feel strong about it.”

Holland did not elaborate on why he feels strongly about the issue. He might be a big fan of Miles Morales and want to see the character flourish. Of course, there is a chance that Holland is looking for a place of his own. Back in 2021, he said GQ that, “If I’m playing Spider-Man after 30 years, I’ve done something wrong.” Now, the actor is something 30, and he may be looking for a younger star to take his place effectively. That can happen sooner than you might think; next year Avengers: Secret Wars will reboot the MCU, which would be a great time to introduce Miles Morales and new heroes like the X-Men.

Holland may or may not be in the MCU when Morales appears; after all, his Spider-Man can be repeated or written without these films entirely. If he is something still, however, it sounds like Holland wants to have a similar relationship with new actor Robert Downey Jr. he had with her, both on and off screen. “I feel very grateful for the way I was brought into this world and how I was taken care of [Robert Downey Jr],” he said.

Does that mean we might see Holland’s mentor Peter Parker Miles Morales on screen? That all depends on what happens behind the scenes. Given Holland’s previous comments about playing an aging Spider-Man, he’d be happy to step out after the events of Spider-Man. Avengers: Secret Wars. But Spider-Man: A New Day you are on your way to earning more than a a billion box office dollars. If so, Marvel might offer Holland the kind of contract he can’t refuse. If that happens, we can look forward to a future collaboration with Hugh Jackman; after all, why not make a film with two master actors who will play the same role until they reach the age of 90?
