The Napa County Sheriff’s Office told NBC News that the vehicle sustained damage in Yountville, California, with witnesses saying that “after hitting a stationary vehicle, the driver stopped for a moment and then drove away.”
“The witness told deputies where the suspect’s vehicle was last seen moving,” the press release read. “After a while, the deputies saw a [California Highway Patrol] the car parked behind a brown car, which was slightly blocking the road.”
The police identified the driver as Paul, 86, and the officer revealed that the car had “significant damage” to the front right. This is “in line with recent crashes,” the sheriff added.

An initial breathalyzer test found no alcohol in Paul’s system after the incident on Friday, July 3, and Paul was not arrested. The sheriff’s office is referring the case to the Napa County District Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution.
A spokesman for the Pelosi family spoke about the incident in a statement.
