Despite their on-screen bond, Raphael recalled that he was worried that Eva digging Dean Wilson would upset the actor.
“I really attack the way he looks and what he does,” he added. “Once I came to him and said, ‘Is this okay, because I’m making a little progress too?’ And he said, ‘Just give it to me [it] … I love it.'”
Raphael left the experience with a new respect for Van Der Beek. He remembered that he could see Dawson’s Creek alum hits a milestone when his kids visit him on set. (Van Der Beek shared six children with his wife Kimberly Van Der Beek.)

“There was never a time when he didn’t talk about them,” he continued. “She brought her two daughters to the set, which was really special. … Kimberly shared with me that it was the first time they were able to meet her. Bringing your daughters to work means she really loved you. [here] and I really wanted it to be modeled after them.”
Van Der Beek’s wife confirmed his death at the age of 48 earlier this year writing on Instagram, “Beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning. He met his last days with courage, faith, and grace.”
Kimberly, 43, shared children Olivia, 14, Joshua, 13, Annabel, 11, Emilia, 8, Gwendolyn, 6, and Jeremiah, 3, with the late actor.
“There is much to discuss about his ambitions, love for humanity and the sanctity of time,” he wrote at the time. “Those days will come. In the meantime, we ask that we be alone in peace as we mourn our loving husband, father, son, brother and friend.”
