Netflix Rated R Dark Comedy Action Thriller For John Wick Fans

By Chris Snellgrove | Published

John Wick it changed the action movie scene so well that it became part of our cinematic lexicon … for example, if you wanted to describe a movie built around big celebrities, epic battles, and complex world-building, you might say something like “There is no Bob Odenkirk’s John Wick.” There is currently no shortage of these movie songs, and some are definitely better than others. One of the best such films Gunpowder Milkshakea John Wick Clone with a girl power twist is now streaming on Netflix.

A cross between Fire Power and Star Power

Gunpowder Milkshake

What Gunpowder Milkshake about, exactly? This is mainly the story of a veteran hitman who works for a mysterious organization and can handle almost any job with ease. But when he must protect a little girl belonging to one of his victim’s fathers, he must reunite with his estranged mother and recruit unlikely friends if he has any hope of survival.

Like the John Wick movies, most of the Gunpowder MilkshakeThe appeal of its intelligent characters. Karen Gillan (best known as fan favorite Amy in Doctor Who) plays our main female protagonist, along with Lena Headey (best known as Cersei in Game of Thrones) plays his estranged mother who turned into a professional killer. Other big names in this great ensemble include Paul Giamatti as a shadowy assassin, and Michelle Yeoh as a member of the special sisterhood of heroes.

The Perfect Mix of Violence and Charisma

Gunpowder Milkshake

Although it’s not that good John Wick (more on this later), Gunpowder Milkshake he does a great job of portraying the best aspects of that film. For example, the battles are well planned and complex, and each bullet fired helps to move the narrative forward relentlessly. All the characters have great chemistry, and the vivid world-building in the script is reminiscent of similar murderous action films Mad Max: Fury Road.

When Gunpowder Milkshake premiered on Netflix, it made a big splash, becoming the most watched movie in America that week. This good buzz was enough for a sequel to be announced in 2021, but there has been no real movement or announcements since then. Fingers crossed for more on this strange cinema, but the lack of updates has me worried that this particular milkshake machine might be broken (McDonald’s curse strikes again?).

Good, But Not Better Than Very Good

Gunpowder Milkshake

Gunpowder Milkshake it may have been a hit when it came out, but critics were mixed in their opinions. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film currently has a critical rating of 60 percent, which means it didn’t break into “new” territory. Critics generally praise the colorful and fun atmosphere and the extreme violence in style but note that, like a regular milkshake, it can be nothing more than a sugar-laden load of empty calories.

I think that’s a fair assessment in general, and I feel the same way about it Gunpowder Milkshake. It’s not as good John Wickbut that doesn’t mean it’s insulting…honestly, that classic Keanu Reeves style is better than the majority movies. But this new film manages to deliver Wick-style thrills and lovable characters while making the most changes to establish its own unique cinematic identity.

GUNPOWDER MILKSHAKE SCORE

Gunpowder Milkshake ultimately it’s a great movie for anyone who likes good scenes, and if you like Gillan, Headey, and Yeoh (really, who doesn’t?), even better. Of course, milkshakes aren’t for everyone, and you won’t know if this is your new favorite sugar bomb or just a normal bomb until you stream it on Netflix. Fair warning: if you Doctor Who fan like me, you might spend half the movie singing “Amy’s got a gun” to the dulcet tones of Aerosmith.
