Wyndham Clark reflected on winning his second US Open with an emotional message full of reflection and appreciation.

Clark walked the ropes at Shinnecock Hills to become the 24th player to win at least two US Opens in a career after beating fellow American Sam Burns by one shot. The 32-year-old’s first US Open title came in 2023 at the Los Angeles Country Club, another one-shot victory over runner-up Rory McIlroy.

“I’m not sure I’ve found the words yet. If I’m honest, last year wasn’t filled with many highs. There were more questions than answers, more frustration than celebration, and more moments that tested my belief in myself,” Clark’s note to X began.

WYNDHAM CLARK DOESN’T NEED TO BE LOVED, BUT HAS TO BE RESPECTED AFTER OUR OPENING WIN AT SHINNECOCK.

“This game is incredibly humble. It doesn’t owe you anything, and sometimes the only thing you can do is keep showing up and trust that the work will eventually pay off. That’s why this week means so much. To the fans, thank you for making this tournament what it was. The crowds in New York are loving, loyal, and demanding. Whether you were pulling me down the drain or not, you will never push our spirit to forget and we will never forget.

“Thank you to the USGA, the members of Shinnecock Hills, the volunteers, and all the invisible people who made this week so special. This place is everything the US Open should be, and I’m incredibly honored to have my name forever attached to it.”

“To my team, family, friends, and sponsors, thank you for staying by my side in these difficult times. Thank you for believing in me in the days when faith was not easy. This trophy means a lot because of the path it took to get here. The obstacles, doubts, and difficult days all made this moment very sweet. I will never forget this week, as the US Open feels, this place is like the US Open. Thank you forever.”

Clark was far from the fan favorite during Sunday’s final round at Shinnecock. Most of the fans in Long Island, New York seemed to be rooting for the Colorado native with countless shouts of his golf ball hitting bunkers and a few roars after each of his five-putts during the final round.

Clark made two public mistakes during the 2025 PGA Tour season. In the final round of the 2025 PGA Championship, he threw his driver an advertising sign behind the tee box. A month after Oakmont missed out on the 2025 US Open, he ripped open two lockers inside the clubhouse and was banned from the historic club for the next few days.
