Marvel’s Favorite Actor Had A Secret Bender Ahead Of His Big Test

Given all the excitement in the future Spider-Man: A New Dayit’s fair to say that Tom Holland is still one of the most popular actors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He has great chemistry with almost everyone, which is why the next Spidey movie will have him starring alongside Jon Bernthal’s Punisher and Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner. Of course, before Holland got this sweet gig in the first place, he had to show chemistry with Marvel’s most important actor: Robert Downey Jr.
Because Spider-Man was such an important role, Tom Holland didn’t have a one-and-done audition process. Instead, it was a multi-part process that culminated in one final hurdle: a screen test with Downey. Needless to say, this put a lot of pressure on Holland, who was only 19 at the time. He ended up dealing with that pressure in an unfortunate but understandable way. The night before his big screen test, he emptied the hotel’s minibar, went on a rampage and ended up getting beaten up by his new employers!
Here’s to Being Spider-Man

This strange story came to light last year when Tom Holland appeared in the game The Rich Roll Podcast. He revealed that “When I did my first screen test with Downey, the night before, I polished off a little bar. And Marvel found out about that.” Although the drinking laws are different in Holland from England, his story has raised many fans here in America, where you have to be 21 or older to buy alcohol. Here’s Marvel’s biggest icon admitting he did a little bender before the biggest test of his life!
The host argued that Marvel is like the Eye of Sauron in its ability to see and know everything. As for Holland, he doesn’t remember if he told Kevin Feige or if Feige told him. But whenever it came up in conversation, he would say, “Yes, yes, yes, we know about that. We asked the hotel.” Holland then relayed his natural reaction to the announcement: “Oh, sh*t!” Of course, as he laughingly relayed to his boss, this particular story apparently had a happy ending. “However, he still got the job.”
Soso The Man Is Gone

Over time, this story had a happy ending when it comes to the actor’s life. Over time, Tom Holland realized that he was an alcoholic, and he stopped drinking completely in 2022. In a recent GQ interview, she explained how her habits didn’t lead to any of the wild parties or crazy shenanigans you might expect from celebrities. I was always sober. I was already drinking too much. In a full-circle moment, she candidly talked about her minibar before a screen test with Downey, saying, “I wasn’t really a nightclub person as I would stay at home in my hotel room and finish the bar and go to work the next day.”
Fortunately, Holland was able to fully kick the trend. He had help with the Marvel icon and his fiancee Zendaya, who has been absolutely drinking. Indeed, he deserves honest advice about his struggle: the only reason we know about Holland’s alcoholism is that he was so open about his struggle and why he thought it was so important to finally quit the sauce. That loyalty might not be as exciting as watching him skate around town or punch bad guys in the face, but it might help Holland do exactly what Spider-Man does every day: save as many lives as possible.
