Authorities are thanking “a group of private citizens” for finally recovering the body Alaskan Bush People star Matt Brown.
“On Saturday, May 30, 2026, a group of private citizens conducting a search along the Okanogan River found a deceased person in the river,” a Sunday, May 31, press release shared by the official Facebook account of the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office read in part. “This person was found and taken to the beach, where he was identified as Matthew Brown.”
Press release, signed by the Sheriff Jodie Barcushe continued, “Matthew Brown has been transferred to the custody and care of the Okanogan County Coroner. The cause and manner of death will be determined by the Coroner’s Office. The Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office extends its condolences to Mr. Brown’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
The press release concluded that “no additional information” will be released, citing an “ongoing investigation” into the TV star’s sudden death.
Beba BrownMatt’s brother, confirmed the death of his 43-year-old sibling via TikTok on Saturday, revealing that his other brother, Noah Brownhe was with a group of private citizens when they found the remains of his older brother.
“They found a body in the river a few hours ago and it was identified as Matt’s,” said Bear, 38, at the time. “Noah was with them and helped them pull the body out of the water [Matt].”
Although the official cause of death had not been made public at press time, Bear speculated that his brother’s killing was “self-inflicted,” adding that he “wouldn’t blame it. [Matt] he would hurt himself” even though his brother “struggled for a long time.”
“I was really worried that he would end up ODed or something like that,” he continued. I didn’t think he would hurt himself.
He added, “I’m asking people to make me happy, please respect my family and my mother. Please watch the comments you leave guys. Sometimes words can hurt more than fists… [Matt’s] In the last videos, he was talking about how people are not good at his writing. You guys have to remember that the people on the other side of your screen, the people whose video you are watching, are real people too. “
Later, Noah breaks the silence after his older brother’s death, confirming that he still knows Matt’s body.
“A few days ago, I was working with the search and rescue teams trying to find the body and today at 3:27, the team I was working with found the missing body and I called it Matthew,” he told the camera. “My older brother, Matthew Brown, is dead.”
He went on to say, “I was there when we pulled him out of the river, we pulled him out from the beach and when the police arrived and everything, the investigator did his things and I went down to point out that it was him.”
