What do you think was the most important superhero movie ever made? You may be tempted to dismiss movies like this Avengers: Endgamestill considered by many to be the pinnacle of tight-and-flights movies. Alternatively, you can throw out old movies, like 1978 Superman or in 1989 Batmanwhich proved that heroines have a place on the big screen. Arguably, however, the most important superhero film was Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man film. It created a template (a mix of action, comedy, and killer episodes) that almost all 21st-century cape content would follow, and it had such an impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe that Toby Maguire’s webmaster played an important role. That film also saw the return of Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, a foe first introduced in Raimi’s film. Spider Man the movie. Nicolas Cage dropped this juicy tidbit in a recent interview with People. Ironically, he spoke to the store at a recent exhibition of Spider-Noira solo live action game dedicated to the character he portrayed in the Spider-Verse films. He revealed that, back in 2002, he spoke with director Sam Raimi and was able to cast him as the Green Goblin in. Spider Man. While Cage believes this was the right decision for his career, it was also the right decision for the film. At the time, Cage was arguably the most iconic character to play the role, having established himself as a major force in Hollywood in the ’80s with blockbuster films such as. But even if Cage doesn’t move on screen, his intensity is so hot that it seems like it could boil over at any moment. Does this make for attractive films? That’s right! But the intensity makes it very difficult for Cage to play a man with two lives.
That’s part of why he would be so badass as the Green Goblin, a CEO and father character by day and a murderous gangster by night. Cage couldn’t pull this off because we always saw the Goblin crying under Norman Osborne. But Willem Dafoe is so brilliant in his performance as a supervillain that he often seems like two completely different characters trapped in one body. However, that power made him strange perfect to voice Spider-Man Noir in between Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. That actor proved to be so popular that he is now getting his own show on Prime Video.
Nicolas Cage makes his live-action debut as Spider-Noir on May 27. The eight-episode series will be in black and white, giving audiences a closer look at how Cage can bring this amazingly beloved character to life. Will he lend some of his superpowers to this Prime Video show? If so, be sure to close your eyes and really soak in the feeling. After all, this might be the closest we’ll ever see (or blindonce you close your eyes like a good boy!) this acclaimed actor plays as the Green Goblin.
