Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang warns the US chip ban will help China prosper

In a scathing warning to Washington policymakers, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang indicated that the ban on US technology exports could have unintended consequences, declaring that China already has “all the chips it needs” while state-backed rival Huawei is “thriving in our absence.”

“Critics would say that selling advanced chips to China helps China close the gap and maybe beat the US in AI,” FOX Business host Maria Bartiromo told Huang, “and the other angle is that if we block all sales, China is doing it anyway, it’s just accelerating growth from companies like Huawei.”

“You summed it up really well… The president would like us to win everything,” Huang replied. “The United States must be absolutely convinced and willing to lead the world in every aspect, every layer of that five-layer cake, from energy, of course, from chips.”

“China obviously has all the chips they need. That’s why they don’t need ours. And Huawei has done a great job there, obviously, one of the biggest companies in the world. They had a record year. They’re developing when we’re not there. And now they’re sending their technology around the world, competing with American companies around the world,” he continued.

“And so I think their ability to protect technology for their national security reasons, I think they have a lot … for their needs.”

The adoption of a technological pioneer reveals a serious national security problem: instead of crippling Beijing’s capabilities, brutal separatism has forced the Communist regime to become technologically independent, making domestic competitors a global threat to American industry.

Huang’s comments come after his recent trip with the president to Beijing, and the US government officially approving licenses for Nvidia’s upgraded H200 chips to certain Chinese customers.

“[President Trump’s] it is very clear that he would like American companies to win in the world. Winning globally allows us to, one, export, generate revenue for the country, bring back tax dollars to the country, create jobs in America,” Huang said. “It also allows us to spread and spread the American technology stack around the world, so that the whole world can be built on American technology and standards.”

The CEO also highlighted Nvidia’s important role in America’s defense infrastructure, specifically ensuring that US military intelligence and radar work in its systems.

“We do a lot of work in imaging, and most of the world’s radar systems and imaging systems have Nvidia chips in them. And, we’re also incredibly respected,” Huang said. “The Department of Defense has access to Nvidia’s technology, and our technology is completely open to modification and development for our military’s use.”

“We are a very large technology company, and we are [an] American technology company. We want the American technology industry to be a national asset of the United States,” he added. “And manufacturing is a key part of our national security. And we play an important role in doing that. “
