The Marshals Star Reveals If They’re Worried About Screen Death

After The Marshals reveals that Monica is dead on screen, another Yellowstone OG is targeted if they are worried that their character will be killed.
Gil Birmingham it was measured in half Yellowstone fans worried about his character’s injury to The Marshals first of all, i’m only joking Us Weekly“I will make sure they include that in my contract [that Thomas Rainwater can’t get hurt].”
Birmingham recalled how “amazing” the revelation of rainwater was.
“It still makes me laugh when people think I’ve been shot,” he said. “I took explosives.”
Despite Rainwater surviving the crash, this moment was meant to set the scene for something bigger, with Birmingham explaining, “What we’re letting the audience know is that Rainwater’s burden has now grown to the point where he’s now a victim where John Dutton was.”
He continued: “So whoever is going to be an obstacle in terms of these foreign powers that want to come in and use the resources – be it people or minerals. That’s politics and the violence of the West. I’m glad I survived but it’s a new story for Rainwater.”
The actor was interested in seeing what the producer of the show is like Spencer Hudnut came the news that was presented to Yellowstone.

“Spencer comes in – in terms of Aboriginal communities – he doesn’t know as much as Taylor [Sheridan] it was. He didn’t live on a reservation with an Aboriginal community when he was young like Taylor. So I thank him,” Birmingham said. “It’s a real metaphor too. Something is lost and there is a lot of grief on our reservation and some of these things are very much tied to the poison that is allowed to be dumped in the designated area.”
Birmingham recalls being “devastated” when he found out Monica had died during the event, adding, “At the same time, these things really hit you in the heart and are real life things.”
Paramount Network Company Yellowstonewhich aired from 2018 to 2024, introduced Us to Kayce (Luke Grimesand Monica (Kelsey Asbille), who remained at the center of the show until the end. After teaching at a local school on the Broken Rock Indian Reservation, Monica went on to become a professor at Montana State University while accompanying Kayce, who brought them back to the Yellowstone Ranch following a falling out with her father John (Kevin Costner).
After John’s death, Kayce, a former US Navy SEAL, became the new owner and operator of Yellowstone Ranch. Kayce and Monica ended the show alive – and were together – before The Marshals he started.
When the series premiered in March, fans were shocked to learn that Monica had passed away after a battle with cancer.
“Kayce really needed – not that it wouldn’t be good for Monica to come back – but it was very different from who her father was. He’s a single father trying to raise his family,” Birmingham said. “The kind of emotional trauma that Kayce must have had to begin with not knowing what his purpose in life was. It was a great setup to follow the trail of how Kayce would redeem himself or find a purpose in his life, which really allowed for the reunion of Rainwater and Mo.”
Birmingham also told us about how the Marshalls tried to place the community of the Nation, saying, “It’s a delicate balance you run because we don’t want to be a message show. We really want to engage the audience and we want to entertain.”
He concluded by saying: “But let’s use the opportunity to teach so that we are treated with respect and dignity.” [Brings Plenty] he is an advisor to the Native and really has a hand in guiding it that way. He brought his brother Joe in with him. It is important that we express the importance of what traditional grievances mean to us and how we respect those who have passed away.”
The Marshals airs Sundays on CBS at 8 pm ET.
