Gina Carano says Disney is keeping quiet after settling disputes as it prepares for Rousey’s fight

Gina Carano says she has nothing left to prove, but she isn’t silent either.
After years as one of Hollywood’s most visible examples of cultural subversion, the former “Mandalorian” actor is reinventing his career on his own terms.

Carano – in one of his main roles in this “cancelled” saga – reached an official agreement with Disney and is now preparing for a high-profile MMA comeback against Ronda Rousey on May 16.
In a new interview no Evie MagazineCarano reflected on how quickly the story around him had changed.
For Carano, the past few years have marked a shift in the way he views the media and public discourse.
Looking back at the social media posts that led to his firing, he says the reaction at the time feels out of step with where things are now.
“Back then it was called a conspiracy theory,” Carano said.

“And I’m hitting a hundred with my plots right now, the questions I was asking are the questions that other people wanted to ask.

“We got to a point where we couldn’t even question, or challenge a narrative, or make a joke. Comedians suffered because of that. People just said truths that people didn’t like. It was a wild time. It wasn’t that long ago.”
Carano’s coverage largely ended after she settled her lawsuit with Disney in August 2025.
He believes the lack of follow-up tells its own story, especially when he compares how the company explained his exit versus how it handled the decision.
“No one closes this,” he commented.
“I told you this The Hollywood Reporter reporter and they were like, yeah, no one is putting this together. But when you put Disney’s two statements next to each other, the one they said when they fired me and the one they said when they settled, the difference is just amazing. “
Despite the fallout, Carano did not target the creative team behind “The Mandalorian.”
Carano said her experience working with Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau didn’t live up to the online narrative surrounding her departure.

“I never had a problem with Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau. I thought they were always very good,” he added.

“There are so many things I can’t even share. But those are two good people that I respect, and they respect me. The internet always wants you involved in its problem whether it has to do with you or not.”
Away from Hollywood, Carano said she also underwent physical therapy while preparing for her return to wrestling.
“I’ve been hiding from the world for a long time. People will be like, I didn’t know you were that hard,” Carano said.
“It’s going to be a little embarrassing. But life is embarrassing; it’s also possible to become addicted. Food is one of the most abused drugs. People use it to hide from the world. And I think that a lot of people who use food, like me, actually take it out on themselves because they don’t want to take it out on others. They’re usually very sensitive people.”
As she prepares to face Rousey, Carano also discussed how she balances feminism in a sport like MMA.
“You can still be a woman and love all things and be a woman. It’s actually lovely,” she said. “Women are strong. They don’t have to be like men to be strong.”
Now, with the commitment behind her and the upcoming return to competition, Carano says she’s more focused on what’s next than what came before.

“I feel like I’m blooming right now,” Carano said. “I love these years. I have a husband. I have goals. This is the best I’ve ever felt.”
