New York Fashion Week 2026 has come and gone, but the trends certainly left a lasting impression on local Manhattanites. As a New York City fashion designer, you can bet that the things I’m looking at are in some interesting shows on (and off) the runway. One style I saw over and over again? Patterns patterns patterns. Designers and labels like Carolina Herrera, Anna Sui, Khaite, and more have jumped headfirst into playful polka dots, wildlife prints and florals, inspiring the new 2026 look for all NYC fashionistas.
To replicate said high-end style, I lean toward affordable retailers that deliver runway looks without stepping into a showroom. Like the looks seen during NYFW, these pieces feel bold, unconventional, feminine and even vintage-esque – especially when you put them together. And while I prefer to pick under $150, that doesn’t mean you can’t find great brands below. I’m talking about Kate Spade, Free People, Sam Edelman, Banana Republic and others. All of this transitions well from winter to spring, so you can wear it every time spring really blooms.
13 NYFW-Inspired Styles To Add To Your Wardrobe
1. What we like: Deep browns and floral prints dominated the runway, and this popular maxi dress made the style very wearable. Designed in a muted, inspired tone, this dress can be worn from day to night. All you need to do is change your shoes, and you’re good to go.
2. Daily Essentials: With warmer weather on the way, it’s time to grab this polka dot dress for upcoming spring activities. While Christian Siriano played with big spots, I like this small pattern for everyday wear instead. It presents a bright contrast against a dark background, but is very realistic for functions, brunches and the like.
3. Spring Foundation: I’m willing to bet you’ll be rocking this long-sleeved dress every second you get. It has a flowy fit, a sweetheart neck and a matching twirl skirt that’s perfect for date night. Oh, and the pretty floral print is just the chef’s kiss.
4. The Wild Side: Animal print pieces had been on my radar before New York Fashion Week, but the shows only confirmed my opinion. It’s safe to say that the style is definitely ‘in,’ and this off-the-shoulder top is an easy way to incorporate the print. This cake is very versatile, making it perfect for baggy jeans and trousers.
5. Mix and Match: If you’re not sure how to put the patterns together in your collection, I’d say start with your base and throw these polka dots as the cherry on top. The mesh panel, pointed toe and kitten heel feel Hollywood glam, but in 2026.
6. Quick Upgrade: Anyone who lives in the northeast knows that spring takes time to warm up. This cheetah-print shirt jacket keeps you on trend again cozy and warm at the same time. I also love the idea of wearing this jacket with a basic tee and jeans, with outerwear as the main statement piece.
7. Career hero: Whether you work in fashion or accounting, this button-down shirt is essential for every work wardrobe. Unlike regular buttons, this one does away with the point collar, replacing it with a feminine ruffle for a way out.
8. Finding Flattering: Activewear, like this cotton option, works as hard as you do; this one is customizable, with multiple pockets and a waist-defining belt that won’t let your shape get lost behind the zebra print.
9. Cool Girl Style: Didn’t you hear? Shoulder bags are the cool thing for the ‘It’ girl, and this animal print style has both trends at the same time. The wallet has enough space for essentials, such as your phone, keys and lip gloss.
10. Finding Dreams: Although lace is not an actual pattern, I have noticed that the delicate style is always seen on the runway. This great Free People top is one of my favorite ways to zhuzh an otherwise boring outfit. The floral design gives it an ethereal look while it looks great under tanks, vests, baggy shirts, and dresses.
11. Rapid Development: Upgrade your blouse collection with this long-sleeved number featuring a runway-approved black floral style with a workwear twist. The studs at the neck give the top a little something extra, too!
12. Pretty in Pink: Puffed sleeves, a flowy fit and a curved hem are three details that make this top an instant ‘add to cart’. Another selling point? It’s marked down to just $15 right now.
13. Cocktail Hour: As soon as I saw this Astr the Label dress, I had to buy it. Made of simple materials, scattered tiers and a safari-like print, this is a gorgeous dress you look as something shown in February. Thankfully, it wasn’t and could be at your front door in a few days.
