I Off campus the characters are like a book brought to life – but not all the actors who auditioned for the role ended up getting it.
Based on the book series of the same name by Elle KennedyThe show, which premiered in May, follows an elite ice hockey team and the women in their lives.
Hannah (Ela Bright) and Garrett (Belmont Camel) The love story took center stage in season 1 — and several key moments from their book, The Deal, were swapped for an updated version. At the same time, the show stopped Allie (Mika Abdalla) and Dean (Stephen Kalyn) as a possible sequel despite being revealed in the third installment of the series.
Jalen Thomas Brooks, Antonio Cipriano, Josh Heuston again Steve Howey make other characters, with Charlie Evans again India Fowler like surprise additions later in the series.
“It’s great to have a blueprint for this great book series to start with, but adapting it to a TV show is a little different,” the show’s creator. Louisa Levy you are only told Us Weekly. “We have to keep the audience focused in a different way.”
Levy broke the path from the page to the screen.
“We have many stories told in different ways. We have eight episodes instead of a whole book,” he said. “So we started with things that weren’t discussed much – that without those things it wouldn’t be Off Campus.”
He continued: “Since then, we’ve added as many book sessions as we could.

Stephen Kalyn
Before Off Campus found their Dean, Kalyn actually auditioned for the role of Logan.
“And I thought it was great. But, it’s interesting how the casting process works because I can see why I didn’t get the part,” she told Bustle in May 2026. “And then Dean came along, and I was like, OK, that seems a little more up my alley.”

“I auditioned for Hannah first,” Abdalla, who now plays Allie, told us exclusively. “I just knew that wasn’t right. Everyone knew that wasn’t right. Then when I heard they wanted to send me back to Allie and I ended up holding the documents, I said, ‘This is right.’ Everything turned out really well. “
